Project: Mold Remediation in bathrooms, kitchen, dining room, bedroom, hallways
If you want your mold remediation done professionally, cost effectively and correctly, Nelson is your guy. Unfortunately, I did not meet Nelson and his team until my house needed a fourth remediation and boy, do I wish I knew him back in 2019. I have had two other experiences with mold remediation companies (and their sales reps) before Nelson and there is no question, Nelson is the BEST. I suffer from chronic health issues due to mold exposure, so having mold remediation done correctly is crucial to my health. Nelson worked closely with my IEP (Indoor Environmental Professional) to identify specific areas of my home that needed remediation. Not only did Nelson use the IEP’s notes as a guide, but when he came to look at my house, he added additional information/observations based upon his 20+ years’ experience in the field. While it was hard to hear that removing a ceiling was needed to really remediate and clean appropriately, we needed to do it. He didn’t just sit back and only go off of the IEP’s recommendations, he actually cares about his work and helping people improve their health. I got regular updates and photos of what was worked on (it was a fairly extensive job, gutting the major areas of my house down to the studs), the containment held up (another company’s containment fell down several times during another remediation) and always asked permission if something was not listed on our original agreement (another company opened up a ceiling without consent which caused mold to be exposed from our attic space). Nelson is very thorough; his team was well trained on what they should be doing, and everyone worked their butts off to finish on time (I had additional remediation that was needed). Also, I am a healthcare provider and see clients who become ill after exposure to mold, so I have already referred my clients to Nelson and his crew. Personally and professionally, I do not hesitate to highly recommend Nelson and the Better Breathing Environmental!
Project: Mold Remediation in Basement and Attic
I recommend this company unequivocally, enthusiastically and with great pleasure! They did everything they promised. They were thorough, on time and worked with the utmost professionalism. When they were done, our basement and attic were pristine! Plus, Nelson and his crew were unfailingly courteous, friendly and respectful of our property throughout the 2-week job. We discovered a major mold problem after we bought our house in 2021. In our partially finished basement, mold was on the walls, behind the walls and above the drop ceiling. Mold also contaminated the wood beams and insulation throughout our attic. We were devastated by this discovery and then so relieved after we hired Better Breathing Environmental in March 2022. A different company gave us an outrageously expensive estimate and another proposed work that would have been inadequate and far short of the industry standard.
Many companies claim that they know how to remediate mold. However, what they
do is not according to industry standards and actually make things worse by spraying the mold affected areas with chemicals, and then use blowers to spread spores in nearby areas and that's it. But that's not how it works, according to the EPA, even dead mold causes the same health problems that live mold does. Mold cannot be removed solely by cleaning the affected surfaces. For successful mold remediation, the mold contaminated material must be physically removed followed by the proper cleaning steps. In many cases, the mold is hidden within wall cavities or in inaccessible areas where it cannot just be cleaned, fogged, or sprayed. That’s when the removal of the actual contaminated material is crucial. If you suspect that you have mold in your home, and that you or someone in your family
has been exposed to mold, we suggest you first hire an IEP (Indoor Environmental Professional) such as a mold inspector or an industrial hygienist to assess your home. Once you receive their written report with recommendations, we will carefully review it and offer our services to help you take the next steps in implementing the recommended protocols. An experienced member of our team will visit your home or business in a timely fashion to evaluate the mold situation and/or HVAC system(s) cleaning needs, and will provide you with verbal and written information regarding the project and associated costs. Subsequently, Better Breathing Environmental will then work closely with your IEP and will adhere to their report. We will base the project on their recommendations to achieve a thorough and successful mold remediation and HVAC system cleaning following their protocols. To ensure that the remediation plan has been completed effectively, post-remediation testing by your IEP is always recommended. When it comes to mold and microbial growth, the objective in many cases can vary based on
several factors such as the type of structure being remediated, the health conditions of the occupants and cost associated but the most common targets should include:
